…and suddenly I am heading a “virtual” team!
Agile and efficient leadership is a challenge for every manager in “normal” times. In times of Corona, when suddenly entire teams work together only virtually from home, managers are faced with special and sometimes completely new issues. Jackie Nagtegaal, CEO of LAW FOR ALL in South Africa, talked of her experience and offered practical and creative approaches to solving these challenges for leadership, communication and collaboration at a distance.
Participants learnt about challenges of leading teams virtually, saw examples how to manage their team from a distance and how to cope with unexpected situations, exchange experiences about current challenges and discuss practicable solutions. Topics included the role of the “virtual” team leader, how to secure the information flow and regular updates in a highly dynamic environment, communication of difficult topics (e.g. layoffs and salary cuts) and the support of self-organisation and personal responsibility.
